Beautiful day in Brooklyn to be Pretty in Pink

Hi my loves!

I am back in full force as summer gets closer and closer. This Memorial day weekend was a quiet one. I didn't spend my weekend hopping from party to party or barbecue to barbecue. Instead, I laid low, spending most of my time within the house enjoying the AC and of course with my family. However, I did wonder out and enjoyed how beautiful it was outside.

I caught up with old friends and made new friends from California. They were really down to earth and hilarious.  We shared jokes about how crazy our dogs were. They also tried convincing me that moving to California, to live "the lights, camera, action" lifestyle would be a good fit for it. But... I am a New Yorker at heart. Leaving New York is not currently an option for me. Like the saying goes, never say never, but unfortunately right now it is a NO!

Overall, I had a great weekend and did it in style. Whether you were partying or laying low. I hope your weekend was eventful and highly fashionable.  Check out one of my looks from this past weekend.

A Causal Day

Hey! I hope all has been well since the last time I posted. Today, I want to talk about dressing for a causal day. I am the type of person who is always well dressed when I am going out. My boyfriend has told me on many occasions that I have looked over dressed when we are just running out to complete errands. The opposite has also happened to me as well. When I have more formal occasions to attend. I have heard from my mom (I see her a lot and spend a lot of time with her) "You look nice. However, I've seen you look better dressed for less important occasions. "

HEY! I'm human! I have my days when I feel like dressing up and my days when I do not. But one thing I do know is that I ALWAYS look PRESENTABLE  when I am out of my house.

A lot of woman resort to wearing sweat pants and over sized shirts (even T-shirts) when they are running to the park with their dogs or running errands for themselves and their family. However, I never really understood the method to their madness. Why wear not so flattering clothes in public? Now I understand that you want to be comfortable and not feel restricted. But my philosophy is... when buying clothing, identify its purpose. Buy universal items that can be worn for many occasions. I don't have anything against sweats, however, I've had friend say to me.." Oh, I'm not dressed to go out. I'm dressed for running errands. I'll go home and change. Then meet up with you after." WHY DO THAT? For me, I'm always dressed so I never have to change if an opportunity presents itself.

When I step into a store and I see an item that I like, I immediately say to myself, " Okay, I can definitely wear this for running around doing errands, visiting a friend and hanging out to get a bite to eat or brunch, or even just causally shopping and spending time in the outdoors with my family."  These items are usually jeans, simple crew neck and v-neck tops, light knit shirts and sweater that can be utilized during the fall and spring months. When you shop with the mentally of having pieces that has a universal purpose, you would be less likely to put on sweats and over sized shirt for causally going out.

Also, keep in mind that you may come across someone you haven't seen in a long time. For example, high school or college friends. You want to look your BEST when seeing those type of people. There is a chance that you may not see them again and how you look is their first and last impression of you. That's I stray away from wearing sweat pants and t-shirt (which I grew up knowing as home clothes. As known as clothes only to be worn at home.) The outfit that I am wearing here is causal but universal. I wore this outfit to get some errands done. I was able to spend time in the park with my dog and later that night met up with my friends for dinner.

I wore a simple light weight pink, white, and gray knit top with a medium washed denim pant. My accessories was bold yet simple and added a finished touch to my causal look, dressing me up just a bit.

No SERIOUSLY! The points that I make are valid and you should think about! I think if you are always dress with the mentality of "I'm ready so anything come up." You will never have to run home and change. I also keep a small make up holder that contains a soft gold eyeshadow, eye shadow brush, concealer, a make up sponge, foundation, foundation brush, blush and an mascara. If you do this, you will definitely be ready!

I wanted to share this silly picture with you from my day in the park. I saw the stick and thought to myself, "Hey! Let's make a bonfire! Rolland my boyfriend wasn't up for it! Thank you for reading today's post and have a great day!

Xoxo,

Monique

I'm Loving This Weather

The International Auto Show came to New York City's Jacob Javitz Center on April 3, 2015 and ended April 12th, 2015. Since the first day of the auto show started on the first day of spring break, I was excited. I have always attended the auto show on its opening day. However, this year that wasn't the case. I found myself caught up in work, work, and more work. I thought "Oh its spring break, I'll be able to rest and have many leisurely moments." I was WRONG! I actually found that week to be one of the most stressful week that I have had this year. But enough about my woes! Let's talk about the nice weather and the auto show experience!

The weather was amazing last Sunday. Everyone stripped down and left behind their heavy coats and apparel. I was personally feelings rather ecstatic because I LOVE the warmer weather. I loved the idea of the light layering looks with cute flats.  (Honestly, it could be 20 degrees outside and I would still wear flats. I love the effortlessness of sliding them on and off and not dealing with laces.)

When I originally put this outfit together, I wanted to wear a pair of Converse that I saw in a store while I was out the night before. However, when I went to purchase it , it was sold out. I was completely upset  because I had visited two stores from that franchise and was told that the second store would definitely have my shoe size. Unfortunately, they DIDN'T! I was a little heated about my time wasted. But oh well... the flats that I was wearing would have to do for that day.

Fortunately for me, the turquoise color of my shoes and the beautiful sky blue color of my handbag played on the colors of the parrot in my sweatshirt.

I found this really cute sweat shirt about two weeks ago while shopping in H&M. (It is actually a men's sweatshirt.) I had wondered into the men's section just to see what new apparel they brought out for the season. I am very infamous for doing that. If there is a shirt that is cute. I'm buying it! Regardless if it was made for a man or a women! I feel now a days, it doesn't matter what gender wears what. Just as long as it looks good while wearing it. That's all that really matters.

The auto show was a lot of fun because of the people who attended it with me. I went to the auto show with my boyfriend, best friend and her cutie pie son! However, I feel that the auto show experience is not as amazing as it was when I was younger. If you go every year, you if that the activities that are there for consumers to experience is the same as last year.  However, I liked the life size Kia Mice to take pictures with.  Here are some pictures I took at the auto show.

Thanks for reading! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Xoxo,

Monique
